Since 1997 the scout group was known as the Diamond Valley Scout Group, to align with the name of the local council at the time, the ‘Shire of Diamond Valley’. Prior to then, it was known as the Watsonia Scout Group to reflect the suburb we are located in.

At the end of 2013, the group formally registered its name back to the Watsonia Scout Group. Fundamentally this decision was made so members of the public knew our location and to join other groups in the City of Banyule whose name is aligned with their suburb, including Greensborough, Macleod, Ivanhoe and West Heidelberg.

In 2010, the group transformed into a scouting hub and rebranded as the Watsonia Scout Centre.

This identification was made after the group successfully restored the on-site abseiling tower and hosted a Venturer Unit and a Rover Crew.
